Toronto fans mad they can’t buy tix for Yankees playoff games

If Toronto Blue Jays fans find themselves rooting for the Boston Red Sox to beat the Yankees in the American League Wild Card series, it may only be so they can actually get tickets to see their team play.

The Yankees and the Red Sox begin a best-of-five series Tuesday that will decide which team advances to play the American League East winning Blue Jays.

The first two games of the Blue Jays series against either New York or Boston takes place in Canada. But fans looking ahead to games three and four of that matchup should they be played in the Bronx are finding Ticketmaster isn’t selling seats for those contests north of the U.S. border, according to the the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

A Yankees representative told CBC News seats for those potential games are only available for purchase in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania to limit ticket scalping.

A lot of Blue Jays fans on social media expressed disappointment in possibly being deprived of the opportunity to watch their team celebrate a postseason series victory for the first time since 2016.

But if the Red Sox knock off the Yankees, Blue Jays fans will be able to cross the border and see their team play in Beantown.

“We do not limit purchase eligibility at Fenway Park,” a Red Sox representative told CBC News.
