President Trump’s administration dropped federal charges Saturday against a Utah doctor accused of destroying COVID-19 vaccines and selling vaccination cards.
Michael Kirk Moore faced up to 35 years in prison on charges of defrauding the federal government filed by the Justice Department in 2023 during Joe Biden’s presidency.
Moore was accused of destroying 28,000 COVID vaccines, selling more than 1,900 vaccination cards for about $50 each, and giving dozens of children saline shots instead of the vaccine at the direction of their parents.
Investigators said Moore operated the scheme from a plastic surgery clinic in Midvale, a Salt Lake City suburb. His trial began Monday in Utah’s capital city, and prosecutors delivered opening statements on Wednesday.
However, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) brought Moore’s case to the attention of Attorney General Pam Bondi, who tossed the case on Saturday.
Previously, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a vaccine skeptic, posted his own support for Moore in April.
Though Trump’s first administration was instrumental in the development of the COVID vaccine, which saved millions of lives, he has since aligned himself with Kennedy and other vaccine doubters.
Kennedy was confirmed as Health Secretary despite continuing to spread conspiracy theories about vaccines during his Senate hearings.
