Two men were shot, one fatally, less than six hours apart at a Queens NYCHA complex, police said Thursday.
The bloodshed began when a 39-year-old man was shot multiple times in the abdomen in front of the Hammel Houses on Rockaway Beach Blvd. near Beach 86th St. in the Rockaways about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.
Medics rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital but he could not be saved. His name was not immediately released.
Thenabout 1:15 a.m. Thursday, a 37-year-old man was shot in the stomach and left leg inside the lobby of a Hammel Houses apartment building on the other side of the complex near Rockaway Beach Blvd. and Beach 81st St., officials said.
Medics rushed him conscious and alert to Jamaica Hospital, where he was expected to recover. He has so far refused to cooperate with police, officials said.
It is not yet certain if the two incidents are related, police said.
NYPD detectives were scouring the area for surveillance footage that could help them identify any suspects.
