Two teens were stabbed when they were jumped by a group of youths at a Bronx subway station platform early Friday, officials said.
The attack comes as police announced an 18% drop in crime in city subways for the first quarter of the year.
The victims, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy, were on the No. 6 platform at the Castle Hill Ave. subway station at Westchester Ave. in Parkchester about 12:30 a.m. when five teens they knew approached them.
The group began fighting with the victims. A few moments later, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and began hacking at the young couple, cops said.
The 18-year-old victim was struck in the face with a glass bottle and then stabbed in his left arm and right leg during the fight, cops said. The girl was stabbed in the right knee.
The suspects, all between 17 and 20 years old, swiped the girl’s cellphone before running off.
EMS took both victims to Jacobi Hospital, where they will recover, cops said.
Their attackers ran off. No arrests have been made.
Cops were scouring the area for surveillance footage that could help identify the attackers.
By the end of March, cops had investigated 465 felony crimes in the subway system this year — a drop of 103 crimes from the 568 that occurred in the first three months of 2024.
