The radical left’s newest shiny object, Zohran Mamdani, and his shocking victory in New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary demonstrate that there are two Americas. One America, with coastal elites in places like New York City and Los Angeles, who continue to steamroll towards full-on Marxism, and another with ordinary, hard-working Americans across the country, like here in the great state of Alaska, who don’t embrace this extremism.
From small business owners to Wall Street analysts, New York’s business community deserves better than a mayor who wants to punish success and the hard-working all while stifling the free market.
Mamdani’s talk of “seizing the means of production” and his hostility toward wealth creation should make any business owner extremely nervous.
His foreign policy — calling for the arrest of world leaders like Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu if he travels to New York, refusing to condemn the slogan “Globalize the Intifada,” which advocates for terrorism against Jewish people worldwide and criticizing the federal surveillance of an Al Qaeda terrorists whom even Barack Obama ordered assassinated in a drone strike — creates an environment of instability that no entrepreneur wants to navigate.
New York has always been the capital of capitalism, but with Mamdani’s radicalism, it looks like a place where businesses might struggle to survive.
This shift threatens the very fabric of New York’s economic engine. Mamdani’s leftist policies, like defunding the police, taxing wealth at punitive rates, and overregulating small businesses, risk driving away the innovators who power the city’s growth. His rhetoric alienates job creators, leaving entrepreneurs to face bureaucratic red tape and an uncertain future. Not to mention, New York’s crime rates and rising costs only compound the challenges for businesses trying to thrive.
The city’s once iconic hustle is soon to be suffocated by a dangerous ideology prioritizing government control over opportunity.
