Victor Garber was ‘delighted’ to do ‘And Just Like That’ toilet scene

We couldn’t help but wonder what Victor Garber thought of his viral “And Just Like” moment.

Turns out, the SAG Award winner, 76, was pleased by his appearance on the HBO show’s series finale as gallery owner Mark Kasabian.

On the “Sex and the City” sequel, Mark is invited to Miranda’s (Cynthia Nixon) for Thanksgiving dinner as she tries to set him up with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker).

However, things went left in a now viral moment from the episode.

After Mark used the bathroom, the toilet overflowed. A close-up shot showed floating poop coming back up from the pipes from when Epcot (Spike Einbinder) used the toilet earlier.

“I vaguely remember doing it,” Garber told Entertainment Weekly while at the Toronto International Festival, “but that’s ridiculous. I was delighted to be doing something ridiculous on that show.”

“It wasn’t a very funny part,” the actor admitted, “and so I was happy to be able to do some really overacting. ‘Schtick,’ as they call it, and one of my specialties.”

Garber noted that there was never a version in which a romance did strike up between Mark and Carrie.

“I doubt it…I think that relationship ended,” the star stated. “I haven’t actually seen the show, but it looked like it could happen, and then it was not ever going to happen because he was a dick.”

Last month, one of the show’s writers, Elisa Zuritsky, defended the poop scene.

“Look! That’s a thing that happens in most people’s lives at some point,” she told EW at the time. “It’s gross, but it’s really funny, too, and it’s mortally embarrassing. We do revel and laugh. We get through our embarrassing experiences by telling them to each other and laughing about them.”

Fans, meanwhile, were quick to blast the show for their ending scene.

“Why am I saying farewell to some of my favorite TV characters of all time and seeing a toilet overflow on my screen?” one enraged social media user posted on X after the finale.

Another fan stated, “It’s a choice to make the series finale have 3 scenes involving sh*t and piss… the writers def hate us.”

“Why have I seen 2 men pee this episode and now a sea of turds,” a third chimed in.

Rounding out the unhappy watchers, one shared: “I believe the writers were like f–k ya’ll for s—ting on us..having the last 8 minutes of shots of Victor Garber pissing and seeing literal s–ts in an overflowing toilet. Not to be dramatic but feel insulted as a long time viewer. the world is bad enough.”

“Sex and the City” first debuted in 1998 and followed Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) through sex and dating adventures in New York City.

After the series concluded in 2004, the ladies returned for movies in 2008 and 2010, before “And Just Like That” premiered in 2021.

The sequel follow the friends in their 50s, but Cattrall, 69, opted not to return.

After HBO revealed “And Just Like That…” would be ending, show creator, Michael Patrick King, addressed the fandom on social media.

“While I was writing the last episode of ‘And Just Like That…’ season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,” he explained.

King, 70, claimed that he didn’t reveal that Season 3 would be the end ahead of time, because, “we didn’t want the word ‘final’ to overshadow the fun of watching the season.”

Although some viewers were left with doubts.

“They made the whole show about Aiden, just for him to leave, they retconned Big, they lost Samantha, and they made the 33-minute finale emotionless and s–t-filled,” a fan posted on X. “This cannot have been a ‘planned’ And Just Like That Finale?! I’m a die-hard SATC fan, but, wow.”
