A kitten that went viral online after strolling onto a subway car at 110th Street in New York City now has a forever home and a children’s book to tell her tale.
TikTok user Pocahontae Nehemiah filmed the tiny feline surprising commuters last week by walking onto a subway car alone and presumably without paying a fare.
Passenger Betsaida Mercado scooped up the stray and brought it to her home, where the kitten now lives too, according to NBC’s “Today” show.

“I think God put me on that train. He put me on that schedule so I would be the one,” Mercado said. “She seemed like she was really lost. She found her mommy.”
Mercado named the cat Emmie, “short for the MTA.”
Nehemiah said that after her video topped 6 million views in only two days, she was inspired to write a children’s book about the cat’s adventure. “Emmie’s Ride to a New Life” is now available for purchase on Amazon’s Kindle and Gumroad.
