Wedding crasher steals $60K in gifts from California couple

Police in California are looking for a wedding crasher who allegedly stole $60,000 from a bride and groom during their reception.

The theft was reported around 1 a.m. Sunday at the Renaissance Banquet Hall in Glendale, about 9 miles north of Los Angeles, according to L.A.’s NBC 4.

Witnesses told investigators the suspect came into the reception hall, grabbed a box containing cash and checks, and then fled the scene.

Surveillance video showed the man, dressed in all black, loitering in the lobby for about an hour, where he appeared to talk on his cellphone and order drinks at the bar. He then made his move into the ballroom, where cameras caught him folding and unfolding a serving tray before he grabbed the gift box off at the front of the room and booked it for the exit.

Security video from outside the venue showed the man getting into the passenger side of a black Mercedes Benz SUV.

The suspect, who has not been identified, is described as a male around 40 years old of white or Middle Eastern descent, who’s bald and has a medium build.

The couple is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest, according to ABC 7.
