Weston Gosa, born in ’16 and Pregnant’ season 1, dead at 16

“16 and Pregnant” alum Whitney Purvis’ teenage son Weston, who she was carrying during the MTV show’s inaugural season, has died. He was 16.

Weston Gosa Jr., the biological son of Purvis and Weston Gosa Sr., was found unresponsive Monday morning and transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to a post on his stepmom Amy Gosa’s Facebook. Gosa Sr. — who had custody of the teen — and Purvis confirmed Weston’s death in subsequent tributes.

“(It’s) really difficult to write this but this morning little Weston passed away,” wrote Gosa. “We are completely heartbroken and in shock. It was so unexpected. Losing a child is the most painful thing I have ever experienced and I hope I never experience it again. … It doesn’t feel real.”

Though the family does not currently know what caused Weston’s death, Gosa said the teen “had several health issues as well as diabetes.”

Gosa remembered the “brilliant, smart, funny” Weston as “the most amazing son I could have asked for,” and asked that their family, as well as Purvis, be kept in people’s thoughts and prayers.

“Rest in Peace, my baby Weston. I love you forever, precious,” wrote Purvis. “I’ll never understand why life has to be so cruel. You’ll always be my baby.”

Weston’s dad shared an old photo of him. Gosa Sr. said Weston will “forever be my lil boy,” and said the teen is “free now from all the complications” of the past several years: “Fly high baby boy, daddy loves you more than you could have ever known.”

Purvis was pregnant with Weston during the first season of “16 and Pregnant” in 2009. She ultimately lost custody of both Weston and his little brother, River, who was born in 2014.

Weston’s death comes less than a year after TMZ reported that Purvis was arrested in July 2024 for failing to make child support payments.
