Katy Perry, 40, brought a daisy inside the rocket when she took a trip to space on the Blue Origin flight, as a tribute to her daughter, Daisy.
The “E.T.” singer shares the 4-year-old with her fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom.
Perry held the flower up when the all-women Blue Origin NS-31 crew landed in Texas on Monday after completing the space tourism flight.
Daisy, who Perry welcomed in 2020 with Bloom, 48, was in the crowd watching her famous mom. The toddler was heard shouting “Mama!” and wore a mini astronaut outfit.
After landing, Perry told reporters, “This experience is second to being a mom. That’s why it was hard for me to go because that’s all my love right there, and I have to surrender and trust that the universe is going to take care of me and protect me and also my family and daughter.”
The “Hot ‘N’ Cold” singer added, “I am full up from being able to get that gift of being a mom, and to go to space is incredible, and I wanted to model courage, worthiness and fearlessness.”
Perry and Bloom have been relatively private about their parenthood. Daisy made her first public appearance in 2023, during the final show of Perry’s “Play” residency in Las Vegas.
In between songs, the “Dark Horse” singer said, “Daisy! I love you so much. You’re my best friend. I’m so glad you’re here.”
Alongside Gayle King and Jeff Bezos’ fiancee, Lauren Sánchez, Perry was part of Bezos’ Blue Origin‘s all-women space tourism mission to space.
The three celebrities were joined by crew mates astronaut and bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn.
The women’s space suits had their names and a nod to their careers. On Perry’s outfit, there was a firework next to her name, as a nod to her hit song “Firework.”
Sanchez’s name had a fly near it, a nod to her children’s book, “The Fly Who Flew to Space.”
King’s name had a microphone next to it, as a nod to her work as a CBS News anchor.
Blue Origin’s New Shepard 31 launched at 9:30 a.m. from the company’s west Texas base. The trip lasted around 11 minutes, and it was the first all-female space trip since Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova‘s solo flight in 1963.
“Space is going to finally be glam,” Perry previously told Elle. “If I could take glam up with me, I would do that. We are going to put the ‘ass’ in astronaut.”
Perry and Bloom met in 2016 and have been engaged since 2019.
Daisy was Perry’s first child, as she had no kids with her disgraced ex-husband, Russell Brand, 49, who was charged with rape and sexual assault on April 4. He’s denied the allegations.
The toddler was Bloom’s second child, as he also shares son Flynn, 14, with his ex-wife, model Miranda Kerr, 41.
“It’s the best,” Perry told Variety in September 2021 about being a mom.
She added, “Everything that’s supposed to fade away fades away and a balance comes in.”
