On June 14, 1996, Adam Sandler headlined at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall as part of his ‘What The Hell Happened To Me? Tour.’
“[He’s] moronic, sophomoric and crude…[and] very funny,” Variety writer Adam Sandler (yes, really, the journalist’s name was also Adam Sandler) noted after seeing the “SNL” album during that mid-’90s run. “He also can rock and did just that…serving up nearly two hours of his trademark musical ditties that were given considerable life by a backing band comprised of some of the industry’s top session players.”
“Highlights included ‘the Hanukkah song’ and a blistering working of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On.’”
Now, a little less than 30 years later, the “Sandman” is leveling up from Radio City and playing Madison Square Garden on Monday, Sept. 15.
Other NY stops on the run include Albany’s MVP Arena (Sept. 16), Syracuse’s Upstate Medical Arena (Sept. 17) and Buffalo’s KeyBank Center (Sept. 21).
This time around, the 58-year-old funnyman’s nationwide, arena ‘You’re My Best Friend Tour’ features a “mix of goofy songs and sharp comedy,” Tik Tok user Tampa Bites and Sites shared.
According to Set List FM, he performed 37 (!) songs at that Tampa gig including tracks with absurd titles like “Grandma’s on Ozempic,” “Bagel,” “Mismatched Nipples,” “Socks are Too Tight” and “So Much Fun F—ing You.” He also delivered a moving rendition of “Farley,” a tribute to his late friend and “bad boys of SNL” era castmate.
Notable special guests that joined him at that concert included “Ice Ice Baby” rapper Vanilla Ice, “Makin’ Copies” Rob Schneider and former “Weekend Update” anchorman Kevin Nealon (all of whom sang “Play That Funky Music White Boy” along with the man who brought the world “Little Nicky”).
As for who shows up at the Garden is anyone’s guess. All we know is the best way to find out is live.

Adam Sandler upcoming projects
The mighty Sandman always has a few irons in the fire.
Here’s what’s coming next for the prolific comedian, courtesy of IMDb.
Jay Kelly is a return to the goofball’s serious side. Noah Baumbach writes and directs this film (yes, film!) about Jay Kelly who “everyone knows” but he “doesn’t know himself.” George Clooney, Laura Dern, Greta Gerwig, Isla Fisher and Patrick Wilson round out the A-List ensemble.
Roommates comes from soon-to-be-breakout comedy masterminds Chandler Levack (“I Like Movies”), Jimmy Fowlie (“Saturday Night Live”) and Ceara O’Sullivan (“Saturday Night Live”). Here, “a bright-eyed freshman’s decision to room with a popular student leads to what starts as an exciting new friendship but gradually transforms into a subtle battle of wills.” Co-starring Sadie Sandler, Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, Sarah Sherman and Storm Reid.
Untitled Adam Sandler/Safdie Brothers project has been teased for years following the woulda-been awards season powerhouse “Uncut Gems.” The reported logline of this one — which would allegedly co-star Steve Harvey and Megan Thee Stallion — is “set in the world of high-end sports card collecting in the 1990s [where] a retired baseball pitcher attempts a comeback as a sports memorabilia agent attempts to capitalize on his success.”
