Prepare for witticisms, quips, knee-slappers and perhaps even a well-timed barb.
On Sunday, Dec. 7, Conan O’Brien and Stephen Colbert are slated to take the stage at Newark’s New Jersey Performing Arts Center for a one-night-only show celebrating O’Brien’s illustrious career.
Highlights they’ll likely hit from the redheaded funnyman’s resume include hosting “Late Night” and the Academy Awards as well as writing for “Saturday Night Live” and “The Simpsons” and receiving the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
However, it’s unlikely the off-the-cuff pair will stick to just looking back at Conan’s impressive oeuvre. The fellow talk show hosts have a long history and rapport — Colbert applied to be a writer on “Late Night” in the ’90s — meaning they’ll possibly go off-topic and maybe even make light of sore subjects like Jay Leno swiping “The Tonight Show” from O’Brien and CBS abruptly announcing the end of Colbert’s “The Late Show.”
If this sounds like the comedy show of your dreams, tickets are available as of today.
At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on seats was $217 including fees on Vivid Seats.
Lower-level orchestra seats start at $300 including fees.
Ahead of this night in Newark, Colbert will take part in the 2025 New York Comedy Festival when he looks back at his early-aughts Comedy Central series “Strangers With Candy” that sent up corny after-school specials alongside co-stars Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello.
That show goes down at New York City’s Town Hall on Saturday, Nov. 8.
As a refresher, Sedaris, Colbert and Dinello’s oft-hilarious, boundary-pushing sitcom followed Jerri Blank (Sedaris) a 46-year-old high school freshman who used to be a “boozer, a user and a loser” and her ironically-dramatized, highly-moralized foibles at Flatpoint High. Colbert played closeted history teacher Chuck Noblet; a few classrooms away, Dinello portrayed his paramour, an art teacher named Geoffrey Jellineck.
Conan can currently be seen in the A24 thriller “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” alongside Rose Byrne and A$AP Rocky in theaters nationwide.
