Foo Fighters are ready to make noise again.
Following a relatively quiet 2025 — at the time of publication, Dave Grohl’s group has performed only nine concerts this year — the Rock Hall of Famers announced they’ll be headlining stadiums all over North America on their ‘Take Cover Tour’ with special guests Queens of the Stone Age, Mannequin Pussy and Gouge Away on select dates in August and September 2026.
As of now, the “Everlong” ensemble doesn’t have a Big Apple gig booked for their forthcoming summer run. The closest they’ll get to New York is when they play Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, Aug. 13.
“Since our return to the stage in San Luis Obispo five weeks ago, we have been reminded of why we love and are forever devoted to doing this Foo Fighters thing” Grohl said in a press statement.
“From reuniting as a band and staring at a list of 30 years worth of songs to brush off, to reimagining versions with the incredible blessing of the one and only Ilan Rubin [Editor’s Note: replacing Josh Freese] behind the drums, to reconnecting with our amazing fans and blasting them with everything we’ve got (no matter the size of the venue) because we would not be here without them, we have the most solid core. And the sun is finally rising over the horizon.”
Ahead of the tour announcement, the ensemble released a pair of singles: July’s “Today’s Song” and October’s “Asking For A Friend.”
No word yet on whether there will be a new album or not but Grohl did note that “Asking For A Friend” was “one of many songs to come.”

Foo Fighters new music
As noted above, Foo Fighters has dropped a pair of singles in ’25.
Up first, “Today’s Song” finds the typically hard-charging band in reflective, pensive mode for nearly a minute before crashing guitars enter the picture and turn things up to 11. Interestingly, the group hasn’t worked the new tune into their 2025 shows. Time will tell if the track makes the set list come ’26.
More recently, Foo unveiled the eerie “Asking For A Friend,” where Grohl and his trademark impassioned yelp question reality while shredding. Make sure to stick around to the bloody end too when the band unleashes a chaotic breakdown you’ll want to play on repeat. We know we did.
Foo Fighters special guests
At all shows, the long-running alt rockers will be joined by a special guest or two. To make sure you’re acquainted with their respective sounds, here’s each act’s most-streamed song on Spotify:
Queens of the Stone Age: “No One Knows”
Mannequin Pussy: “Romantic”
Gouge Away: “Ghost”
At the moment, Queens of the Stone Age is on a tour of their own in support of their recently-released, five-song EP “Catacombs.”
The New York Post’s Holly Coley caught the group’s unconventional live show at NYC’s Beacon Theatre and said “although it’s unlikely you’ll feel compelled to throw devil horns, the songs will stick with you long after the encore” in her review.
Tickets for the remainder of the tour, which runs until Nov. 21, can be scooped up here.
Foo Fighters band members
There was quietly a bit of shakeup within the group. After enlisting DEVO drummer Josh Freese to replace the late Taylor Hawkins in 2023, Foo Fighters allegedly let him go because he badly injured his right leg but kept the news quiet, adjusted his instrument and performed with his left.
Longtime Nine Inch Nails drummer — and the youngest ever Rock and Roll Hall of Famer — Ilan Rubin will replace him.
In addition to Rubin, here’s who fans will see when Foo Fighters take the stage at stadiums in 2026:
Dave Grohl lead vocals, guitar (1994–present)
Pat Smear guitar (1995–1997, 2010–present; session/touring musician 2005–2010)
Chris Shiflett guitar, backing vocals (1999–present)
Nate Mendel bass (1995–present), backing vocals (2023–present)
Rami Jaffee keyboards (2017–present; session/touring musician 2005–2017)
Ilan Rubin drums, backing vocals (2025–present)
Dave Grohl controversy
In September 2024, news broke that Grohl, 56, had fathered a a child outside of his marriage to Jordyn Blum, whom he’d been married to since 2001 and had three daughters with: Violet, Hope and Ophelia.
The former Nirvana drummer shared the stunning revelation on Instagram, writing “I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.”
Six months after the bombshell story hit social media, Blum reportedly stated she forgave her husband and was working with him to salvage their relationship to keep their family together.
“Jordyn has forgiven Dave and is trying to move on,” a source told US Magazine. “She is [still] completely devastated by the situation but is standing by his side.”
“They are going to counseling, and Dave has been doing anything he can to win back Jordyn’s trust,” the source added. “Neither of them wants the family broken.”
