Lorde is making the jump from Washington Square Park to arenas.
After a surprise one-song concert at the makeshift Greenwich Village venue — that was delayed by the police — the two-time Grammy winner has announced her ‘Ultrasound World Tour’ in support of her forthcoming fourth studio album “Virgin,” due out June 27.
Midway through the North American leg of the international run, the “What Was That” singer will headline at a slightly bigger Big Apple venue when she takes center stage at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
“Every show I play is a collaboration between you and me,” the 28-year-old New Zealander shared in an email with fans.
“We meet in a room and we make music together, our bodies and the machines in search of something bigger together. 12 years of meeting up and making sound that’s just for us. Since last time I’ve been stripping away unnecessary layers, finding us more room to move. I think that Ultrasound could be our masterpiece.”
On select dates, she’ll be joined by special guests Blood Orange, The Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack, and Oklou. At the MSG gig, The Japanese House and Chanel Beads will serve as the opening acts.
Fans Disciples can purchase tickets for all upcoming North American Lorde shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the ‘Ultrasound World Tour’ is Friday, May 16.
Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Lorde new music
On April 24, Lorde released the first single “What Was That” from the upcoming album “Virgin.”
The 3.5-minute track starts small with a sparse ping pong-y backbeat behind Lorde’s laid back vocals. Around the 45-second mark, “What Was That” begins building to a fever pitch with urgent, vivid lyrics like “MDMA in the back garden, blow our pupils up/We kissed for hours straight, well, baby, what was that?” detailing a confusing relationship.
Before you know it, the bop has gone full-blown dance pop. Consider “What Was That” an early contender for song of the summer.
If you’d like to hear for yourself, you can find “What Was That” here.
About the record, Lorde said “I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC.”
