Where to buy tickets, schedule, dates

55 long years ago, The Doobie Brothers took shape in San Jose, CA.

Since their 1970 inception, Michael McDonald, Tom Johnston, Patrick Simmons, John McFee and co. have produced six top-ten albums, had 16 (!) songs hit the Billboard Top 40 and won a pair of Grammy Awards.

Still, regardless of their countless accolades, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are “takin’ it to the streets” once again in 2025, this time with special guest The Coral Reefer Band aka Jimmy Buffett’s backing band.

From August through September, the “China Grove” rockers will hit venues all over North America on their ‘Walk The Road Tour’ in support of their new album with the same name, which hit shelves June 6.

Early in the run, the veteran hitmakers are scheduled to make four stops in New York and New Jersey.

First, The Doobie Brothers swing into Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center on Thursday, Aug. 7.

After that, they’ll bring their hit parade to Long Island’s Jones Beach Theater on Sunday, Aug. 10, Camden, NJ’s Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Wednesday, Aug. 13 and, finally, Saratoga Springs’ Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Monday, Aug. 18.

“We’re so looking forward to the 2025 Summer tour!” founding member Simmons said on behalf of the band. “Can’t wait to see you all and bring some new music to our fans. Having The Coral Reefer Band on board with us at these shows really makes this a special experience for the audience and all of us. Doobies and Reefers, hmm… sounds like a perfect match!”

Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming North American Doobie Brothers shows on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale for the ‘Walk The Road Tour’ is Friday, Feb. 14.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Doobie Brothers set list

When you have as many beloved hits as The Doobie Brothers — personally, we can’t get enough of the upbeat 1974 classic “Black Water” — it’s hard to construct a set list.

However, it looks like the band has settled on one they like quite a bit that pays homage to their impressive catalog.

Doobie Brothers band members

The San Jose-based band today consists of lead singer Michael McDonald and guitarists Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, and John McFee.

That’s not the whole band, though.

These days, the core quartet is joined by touring musicians John Cowan (bass, vocals), Marc Russo (saxophones), Ed Toth (drums), and Marc Quiñones (percussion).

Doobie Brothers new music

Ahead of the release of their 16th studio album “Walk This Road,” The Doobie Brothers have dropped a trio of raucous singles.

The title track “Walk This Road” is a boisterous bop featuring Mavis Staples that serves as an excellent platform for McDonald to dust off his trademark soaring vocals. It’s a feel-good duet that sets the tone for what will likely be an upbeat album perfect for cookouts and road trips.

After that, The Doobies rock the mellow “Call Me” that, in an alternate world, would be a huge ’90s radio hit. The friendly jam sounds more Third Eye Blind/Barenaked Ladies/Goo Goo Dolls than Doobie Brothers and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Finally, the timeless quartet bring in Mick Fleetwood, Jake Shimabukuro and Henry Kapono for the trippy, tropical “Lahaina.” There’s a hint of melancholy and longing here from the band, which is a welcome change of pace from their oft-sunny tunes.

To hear for yourself, you can listen to “Walk This Road’s” singles here.

The Coral Reefer Band

Joining The Doobie Brothers at all shows this year will be Jimmy Buffett’s The Coral Reefer Band.

Since the “Cheeseburger In Paradise” rocker’s unfortunate passing in 2023, the group has kept performing at his request. In 2024, they reunited for the Hollywood Bowl’s ‘Keep The Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett’ concert featuring Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Jackson Browne and more.
