A fire sale could be coming to Florham Park.
The NFL trade deadline is on Nov. 4, and the Jets have a few players who could be moved because of their 0-6 start.
Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner aren’t expected to be among the players who could be shipped out. Both signed an extension ahead of training camp and are considered part of the Jets’ long-term future.
But who are some of the players who could be shipped off?
RB Breece Hall
On Monday night, Hall posted a cryptic message, #Free20, on his Instagram, fueling speculation that he could be moved before the trade deadline. “They want me to lay down but I got sum to stand for…,” Hall also wrote in the post.
However, when approached by reporters about the topic on Wednesday, Hall said, “It’s referencing like being in the moment, being in the game.”
Jets coach Aaron Glenn also dismissed the Hall trade rumors.
“They’re rumors,” Glenn said. “I still feel the same way.”
This isn’t the first time Hall’s name has been in the rumor mill.
Ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, there was speculation that Hall would be moved, so much so that Glenn called Hall personally to assure him that he wanted the fourth-year player to remain with the Jets. However, Hall, 24, is in the final year of his rookie contract and should be attractive to contending teams that need a running back.
“This is probably like my fifth month dealing with this now. At this point, it is what it is,” Hall said last week. “I’m here. I want to be here.
“I love being a New York Jet and everything. But at the end of the day, I don’t control what goes on. I only control what I do on the field and how I handle my business off the field.”
The problem with trading Hall is that it would further dip into the Jets’ running back depth, which is razor-thin at the moment. Braelon Allen (knee) is on injured reserve and is expected to miss two to three months. Isaiah Davis, Khalil Herbert, and Kene Nwangwu are the only other running backs on the Jets’ roster.
The Jets do not have a third-round pick in the 2026 draft, so adding an extra pick for Hall, who could leave in free agency, might not be the worst thing for a team that needs a flux of talent to rebuild their roster.
LB Quincy Williams
The future is unclear for Williams, who will be a free agent in March.
Gang Green gave Jamien Sherwood a three-year, $45 million extension last March. So the writing is on the wall for Williams, who will enter his age-30 season in 2026. He has just 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the Jets this season.
Williams is currently on injured reserve [shoulder], but is eligible to come off next week ahead of the Jets game against the Bengals. They could consider moving Williams and continue to give rookie Francisco Mauigoa more playing time. Mauigoa registered eight tackles in the 13-11 loss to the Broncos last week.
CB Michael Carter II
Ahead of the 2024 season, then-Jets general manager Joe Douglas signed Carter to a three-year, $30.75 million extension. The problem is, he hasn’t played up to expectations.
Carter, 26, has battled injuries and poor play the last two seasons. He finished last season with 24 tackles in 13 games. Carter has 13 tackles in four games this season (missed the previous two due to a concussion).
The Jets traded for Jarvis Brownlee Jr. last month and also have rookie Malachi Moore, who both can play the nickel cornerback position. Carter has zero remaining guaranteed money on his contract after this season, so the Jets may look to move him to add more draft capital.
WR Allen Lazard
During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show this week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Steelers were looking for wide receiver help. Why not reunite Lazard with Aaron Rodgers, who is with the Steelers and with whom he had some of his best seasons in Green Bay?
Lazard, 29, has been seldomly used by the Jets this season, making just four catches for 24 yards and a touchdown in four games. He was a healthy scratch for the Jets’ Week 1 game against the Steelers and missed last week’s loss to the Broncos due to personal reasons.
The Jets likely won’t get anything significant for Lazard, but you never know how a sixth or seventh-round pick could potentially work out.
DT Quinnen Williams
Jets fans may be angry at just the thought of trading Williams, but it is something the team might have to consider eventually. He is one of their best players and Williams could bring in a haul in return.
On a radio appearance on ESPN New York, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that he was interested in trading for Williams. With all the issues offensively, adding an extra pick could help the Jets surround their future quarterback with more weapons.
Williams, 28, could also force the issue by asking the Jets for a contract extension. But the team has him under control for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. Williams might not be a trade deadline move, but one to watch during the offseason.
