White House COVID website now promotes ‘lab leak’ theory

The White House website has introduced a dramatic new “lab leak” page promoting the theory that COVID-19 was created in a Chinese laboratory.

Covid.gov, which once used to feature information on vaccines, testing and treatment, now opens to a page titled “Lab Leak: The True Origins of COVID-19.” It features a graphic of President Trump forcefully walking between the large white letters spelling “lab” and “leak.”

The site goes on to advance the theory that COVID-19 originated in a Wuhan lab and undermines Trump’s political rivals like Joe Biden and Andrew Cuomo. It also accuses Dr. Anthony Fauci, who headed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases from 1984 until 2022, of pushing a “narrative that COVID-19 originated naturally.”

“By nearly all measures of science, if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced. But it hasn’t,” the site claims.

There’s been great debate about how and where COVID began ever since the start of the pandemic that killed more than a million Americans between December 2019 and May 2022.

Even in 2025, thousands of Americans have continued to die from COVID each month, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. Less than a quarter of U.S. adults had gotten an updated COVID vaccine as of April 5.

The mainstream medical community initially believed COVID began in a Chinese wet market. The CIA reported with “low confidence” in January that the deadly infection may have sprung from a “lab-related incident” in Wuhan. A 2023 intelligence analysis said there wasn’t enough evidence to reach a conclusion on any theory.

“Public health officials often mislead the American people through conflicting messaging, knee-jerk reactions and a lack of transparency,” the new COVID website reads. “Most egregiously, the federal government demonized alternative treatments and disfavored narratives, such as the lab leak theory, in a shameful effort to coerce and control the American people’s health decisions.”

MAGA firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene was among the first to praise the Trump administration’s new site.

“The White House Covid.gov website is a good start, but more needs to be done,” the Georgia Republican representative posted on X. “Now the FDA needs to repeal its approval of all COVID vaccines and it should be taken off the child vaccine schedule immediately.”

She also suggested the White House should push the parasite medication Ivermectin, despite the FDA repeatedly saying the drug hasn’t proven to be effective against COVID-19 in humans.

“The FDA has received multiple reports of patients who have required medical attention, including hospitalization, after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for animals,” the agency said last year.
