The Trump administration is trying to get the last word after Sabrina Carpenter blasted the White House for using her song “Juno” in propaganda videos promoting ICE raids.
On Friday afternoon, after deleting the first video it shared to X earlier this week, the White House posted a new clip of the pop superstar promoting her October appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” in which she said to cast member Marcello Hernández, “I think I might need to arrest someone for being too hot.”
The version posted by the White House dubs over the phrase “too hot” with the word “illegal,” then goes into a montage of ICE officers chasing down and arresting people.
“PSA: If you’re a criminal illegal, you WILL be arrested and deported,” the post reads.
Earlier in the day, social media users briefly thought Carpenter had convinced the White House to stop using her likeness after she slammed the first clip as “evil and disgusting.”
“Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda,” she wrote in direct reply to the post on Tuesday.
Her response went viral, generating 145 million views, 1.7 million likes and 219,000 reposts as of Friday evening.
Before taking down the original post, the White House bashed the “Espresso” singer in a statement using her own album title and lyrics.
“Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: We won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?” White House publicist Abigail Jackson told CNN, quoting a line from “Manchild.”
