Michelle Trachtenberg, who died on Wednesday at age 39, was in a long-term relationship prior to her death.
The actress had been linked to talent agent Jay Cohen since 2020. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Cohen is a partner and head of film finance and distribution at the Gersh Agency.
Trachtenberg signed to the talent agency in 2014.

A week prior to Trachtenberg’s death, she took to social media to wish him a Happy Valentine’s Day.
“Happy Valentine’s Day to the man who sits still long enough for me to paint his face. 🖤💚🩶 💋,” she captioned an Instagram picture of the pair dressed up as Jekyll and Hyde for Halloween.
Cohen, for his part, doesn’t share too many personal posts on his Instagram page.
The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” actress underwent a liver transplant within the last year, but her body may have rejected the organ, according to sources, who said she died of natural causes.
On Feb. 27, her death was ruled “undetermined” after her family objected to an autopsy, according to a spokeswoman for the city medical examiner’s office and sources.

Cohen is a talent agent
Cohen is a partner at the Gersh Agency, one of Hollywood’s longest running talent agencies. He had previously worked on Wall Street, according to his bio on the film finance forum.
“I started out as an investment banker in New York, made my way to LA, financed some movies for people by accident so I learned how to make movies because I invested in a movie and turns out the producers didn’t understand they weren’t supposed to take the money home,” Cohen shared while at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015. “So I took the movie over, learned all about film production, started a production company with Dustin Hoffman, made a lot of movies.”
Cohen is a dad
The talent agent has two daughters: Lili and Rachel.
He shared an image of Lili getting married in November 2023 with followers.
“My youngest Lili and Lyndsay now married . I gained a new beautiful sweet loving daughter in my family ❤️❤️,” he wrote underneath a post of the brides.
Earlier that year, Cohen shared an image of the trio on a getaway.
“First vacation with my daughters in a while ! Love you both so much ❤️,” he wrote.
Cohen and Michelle started dating in 2020
The “Gossip Girl” star and the businessman were first linked in 2020, but Trachtenberg joined Gersh in 2014, so it’s likely the pair knew each other prior to their romance.
Trachtenberg and Cohen went Instagram official in February 2023, with the actress posting an image of herself smiling next to Cohen for Valentine’s Day.
Cohen posted a mirror selfie the same day, writing, “My valentine.”
A year later, Trachtenberg posted a birthday tribute to Cohen in March.
“Happy Birthday to the man who puts up with me @jaymcohen ❤️🔥💋🎂 ,” she wrote.
The couple kept their relationship private
Cohen first debuted the “Ice Princess” star on his social media in 2021 on the Fourth of July.
“#fireworks are every day with this one !! 🎆,” he wrote in the caption.
Throughout the years, Cohen and Trachtenberg have never spoken publicly about their romance.
