Packaging for “Wicked” dolls is leading children to a porn site not associated with the family friendly musical about the Wicked Witch of the West.
Mattel intended to direct customers who purchased merchandise depicting characters played by Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey to WickedMovie.com. That site includes previews of the film hitting theaters Nov. 22.
Instead, the URL on the toymaker’s faulty packaging leads to a pornographic website.
“Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page,” Mattel said in a statement to the Daily News. “We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this.”
That statement warns parents “the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children” and advises discarding or altering the wicked packaging.
“Wicked” dolls are intended for children 4 years and older. Pornographic websites like Wicked.com, which is operated by Wicked Pictures, asks user to verify they’re at least 18 years old.
