The wife of “Ghost Adventures” star Aaron Goodwin was arrested in Nevada last week on suspicion of hiring a hitman to murder her husband — and now cops say the man she enlisted is a convicted killer who became the subject a true-crime documentary last year.
According to online inmate records from Nevada’s Clark County, Victoria Goodwin was arrested on Thursday and arraigned on charges of solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The 32-year-old reportedly remains in custody on $100,000 cash bail or bond.
The man she allegedly tried hiring to kill her husband, identified by TMZ as Grant Amato, is an inmate currently serving a life sentence in Florida. He was convicted of first-degree murder in 2019 for the fatal shootings of his father, mother and brother at their suburban Orlando home.
Prior to the murders, Amato was accused of stealing more than $200,000 from his family and spending the money on a webcam model he met on a pornographic website. The wild case was documented last spring in the three-part Paramount+ series “Ctrl+Alt+Desire.”
Citing Florida police sources, TMZ said Goodwin first learned about Amato from the documentary and began writing to him behind bars. Investigators said she eventually revealed her marital struggles and desire to “end [her husband’s] existence,” offering to pay Amato to orchestrate his murder.
Though Goodwin has denied plotting to have her husband killed, authorities told TMZ she provided the production details of her husband’s TV series and asked for updates on if the murder was “done.” Cops also said she exchanged text messages with Amato about an upfront payment of $2,500, and stashed away over $11,000 to pay him in full.
The illicit communications were uncovered after corrections officers confiscated a contraband cellphone that Amato smuggled into prison. The alleged murder plot was never carried out.
Aaron, who tied the knot with Victoria in 2022 at the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland, told TMZ he was “blindsided” by the attempted murder scheme and is now seeking court-ordered protection against his wife.
As of Tuesday, Amato had not been charged with any connection to the alleged contract killing.
