A Long Island woman has been indicted for allegedly stabbing her ex-boyfriend to death outside an LIRR train station in Bay Shore earlier this month, prosecutors announced Monday.
Nikeya Barker, 44, of Bay Shore, is accused of stabbing Shurvell Rush in the chest shortly after the two got into an argument about an incident that occurred when they were a couple.
Prosecutors said the confrontation began at the train station on the evening of May 3. Barker then followed Rush to a nearby townhouse complex, where she stabbed him in the parking lot.
Suffolk County police were dispatched to the area around 6:45 p.m., where they located the 47-year-old victim with a stab wound to the chest.
He was transported to South Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Surveillance video reportedly shows Barker following Rush into the parking lot where his body was found. She could be seen holding “a large knife in her hand,” prosecutors said.
Footage from the area also shows Barker discarding the knife in nearby bushes, according to police.
Barker surrendered to authorities three days later.
On Monday, she was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge and ordered held without bail for the duration of the case.
Barker faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted. She’s due back in court on July 2.
