Woman found dead on boat in Montauk

A woman was found dead on a boat docked in Montauk on Tuesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

The woman has not been identified, and Suffolk cops said they were still working to determine whether her death was a homicide. However, the department’s homicide squad is leading the investigation.

Cops were alerted to the grisly scene around 4 a.m. The boat was docked off Star Island Road near the far eastern tip of Long Island, authorities said.

First responders attempted to revive the woman, but she was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, sources told News 12 Long Island.

The case is the second shocking death in a ritzy part of the Hamptons in the past 12 months. In October 2024, 36-year-old Brooklyn artist Sabina Rosas was found dead in the posh Shou Sugi Ban House in Water Mill.

Rosas’ boyfriend, Thomas Gannon, was identified as her suspected killer. The 56-year-old Gannon died by suicide at his home in Pennsylvania before he could be arrested and charged in the case.
