PITTSBURGH — With freezing temperatures and evening wind chills awaiting the Yankees in Detroit, game times for the club’s upcoming series against the Tigers have been changed.
First pitches at Comerica Park were originally scheduled for 6:40 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the opener will now begin at 3:10 p.m. Two 1:10 p.m. starts will follow before the Yankees get an off day on Thursday.
Due to forecasted evening wind chills in the 20s and other weather considerations, scheduled first pitch times for Tigers vs. Yankees games at Comerica Park have been adjusted from 6:40 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. on Monday, and 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Aaron Boone was very much in favor of the changes.
“I think we’re gonna walk into a very cold Detroit,” the Yankees manager said. “So anything to probably take that edge off a little bit makes a ton of sense.”
Asked more about the chilly conditions, Boone said, “We’re more of a summer game,” but he added “you gotta deal with the elements” in some places this time of year.
“It’s the same for both clubs,” Boone continued. “It’s a little more challenging, but one you gotta be ready for and hopefully we’re equipped for.”
The Yankees will face challenges aside from the elements, as reigning Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal and Jack Flaherty will start the last two games of the series for Detroit after Casey Mize and Carlos Rodón duel in the opener.
Carlos Carrasco and Max Fried will start the final two games for the Yankees.
One player who won’t have to suit up in the cold is Gleyber Torres. The ex-Yankee will miss his first opportunity to play his new team, as he’s on the injured list with an oblique strain.
