Rapper Yung Thug’s probation is in jeopardy after Atlanta prosecutors filed a motion to have it revoked, citing a recent social media post they say identifies a witness.
After the 33-year-old musician pleaded guilty to gang, drug and gun charges in October, he accepted a plea deal and was given 15 years of probation with conditions including no contact with the victims or their families.
The Atlanta native, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, is accused of violating those terms of his probation because of a social media post that publicized the identity of a witness.
The motion outlines a preliminary gang murder hearing currently taking place where investigator Marissa Viverito is set to testify. A blogger posted an image of her on X captioned, “She doesn’t want to be shown on screen? Well, here she is.”
Thug reposted the image to his account adding, “Marissa Viverito is the biggest liar in the DA’s office.”
Prosecutors say the since-deleted post on X quickly went viral, getting more than 2 million views as well as “thousands” of comments, including threats to Viverito. One social media user also threatening to “personally make sure” that Fani Willis, the prosecutor in the case, “is assassinated.”
“Since sentencing, the [Williams] has engaged in conduct that directly threatens the safety of witnesses and prosecutors, compromises ongoing legal proceedings, and warrants immediate revocation of probation,” the motion reads. “The escalation from targeting a testifying witness to making a direct death threat against the elected district attorney of Fulton County is a grave and unprecedented attack on the justice system.”
The filing states that Thug’s freedom under probation “presents a clear and present danger to public safety and undermines the rule of law.”
I don’t make treats to people I’m a good person, I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone. I’m all about peace and love

After deleting the controversial post, Thug posted the following to his X account, “I don’t make treats (sic) to people I’m a good person, I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone. I’m all about peace and love.”
Attorneys for Yung Thug, Brian Steel and Keith Adams told TMZ in a statement that their client has done nothing to “violate any term of probation and thus, the State’s Motion to Revoke Probation must be dismissed at this time, with prejudice.”
The statement continues, “These comments on social media by unknown persons cannot be attributed to Mr. Williams in order to support a violation of his probationary sentence … Williams can admit to all of the allegations alleged and still not have violated any term of his probationary sentence. The State’s Motion to Revoke Probation is deficient.”
The “Pushin P” artist was arrested in 2022 in the RICO case. Prosecutors said that YSL, which is Thug’s music label, was actually a criminal gang. Thug was charged with gun, drug and gang-related crimes.
Yung Thug’s trial became the longest in Georgia history.
