Zelle users were struggling to use the cash transfer app on Friday.
By late morning more than 1,100 people have reported issues with the program, according to Downdetector, a real-time online platform that monitors and reports outages and service disruptions for websites, mobile apps, internet providers and other digital services. Most of them, about 78%, were having problems making payments, and another 16% reported issues when trying to log in.
The reports appear to have started rolling in around 6 a.m., though some users began experiencing issues as early as last night. Within hours, the issue seemed to spread to several banks, with users reporting issues logging into the apps. Those affected so far include, TD Bank, Ally Bank, Prosperity Bank, Bank of America, Navy Federal Credit Union and Santander
People have since taken to social media to air their frustrations.
“Got my money in limbo bcuz their Zelle services is experiencing an outage and nobody can explain anything more,” one person wrote.
Another noted that it’s “the beginning of the month and people have bills to pay,” and then blasted the disruption as “very inconvenient!”
A representative for TD Bank in response to one post wrote: “We’ve been advised some applications may be experiencing issues and our Technical Support team is working diligently to resolve this. We appreciate your patience.”
